UGP ASSESSMENT AND IMPORTANT DATES

We wish you good luck for you FYP.

12 SEPTEMBER 2021 PRESENTATION DAY
Students are asked to prepare slides and make a presentation directly through the platform to be determined by the chairman of the presentation session. Use slides in pdf format is more friendly during online presentations. Presentation time is 15 minutes and Q&A session is 10 minutes. Students are asked to dress neatly.

For FYP 1, please upload the report draft in pdf. Sufficient to write a draft up to the methodology chapter. However, students can write more than that.
For FYP 2, please upload the report draft in pdf according to UTM format and technical paper in MS Word.

For final evaluation of FYP,
FYP 1 students are required to submit:
(1) Draft of report (Deadline: 15 Sept 2021)

FYP 2 students are required to submit:
(1) Draft report according to UTM thesis format (Deadline: 15 Sept 2021)
(2) Technical paper according to the format of “Jurnal Mekanikal” (Deadline: 15 Sept 2021)
(3) E-report * (Deadline: 23 Sept 2021)
(4) E-report declaration (embeded in e-report) * (Deadline: 23 Sept 2021)
(5) Synopsis * (Deadline: 23 Sept 2021)

* These documents can be uploaded after the presentation day. Signature of supervisor is required for e-report and e-report declaration.

FYP 1

Supervisor:
Supervisors will evaluate twice. One mid-semester, it is called interim evaluation. Another at the end of the semester, it is called FYP 1 draft evaluation. Assessment will be made based on student’s interest and attitude, work planning and execution, effort and independence and problem understanding. For FYP 1 draft evaluation, it will be focused on problem statement, objectives and scopes, literature reviews and methodology.

Presentation:
Students are required to make a presentation for 15 minutes and a question and answer session for 10 minutes. Evaluation will focus on problem identification, literature review, methodology, work planning, quality of slides, voice and eye contact, attire and response to questions.

PLEASE MEET AND DISCUSS WITH YOUR SUPERVISOR. THEY KNOW THE BEST WAY TO START A RESEARCH, THE DO’S, THE DON’T AND HOW MAKE A GOOD PRESENTATION.

FYP 2

Supervisor:
Supervisors will evaluate twice. One mid-semester, it is called interim evaluation. Another at the end of the semester, it is called thesis draft evaluation. Assessment will be made based on student’s interest and attitude, work planning and execution, effort and independence and problem understanding. For thesis draft evaluation, it will be focused on problem statement, objectives and scopes, literature reviews and methodology. Students are also required to submit a technical paper. Assessment will be made based on abstract, literature review, methodology, result and discussion, conclusion, references and overall technical paper write-up quality.

Moderator:
The thesis draft will be evaluated by two moderators. They will evaluate in terms of abstract, problem statement, objectives and scopes, literature reviews, methodology, results, analysis and discussion, conclusion, recommendation, thesis format and writing skills.

Presentation:
Students are required to make a presentation for 15 minutes and a question and answer session for 10 minutes. Evaluation will focus on subject knowledge, depth of study, content of presentation, analysis and results interpretation, quality of slides, voice and eye contact, attire and response to questions.
