It is our pleasure to welcome all of you to the 1st International Graduate Conference on Emerging Trends in Multidisciplinary Approaches (IGCETMA-2018). This conference is jointly organized by the Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) and Testlab Services & Supplies (Sdn Bhd) in collaboration with University of Engineering & Technology (UET) Taxila Pakistan, Kohat University of Science & Technology (KUST) Pakistan, Abasyn University Pakistan, Akademia Baru Malaysia and Active One Sports & Supplies Malaysia. The venue for this conference is UTM, Malaysia, KUST, Kohat and Abasyn University, Pakistan. It serves to provide a common platform for scientist, engineers, experts, and academics from around the world to share their ideas and scientific information in addressing on Feb 16-18, 2018 in UTM, Johor Bahru campus, Malaysia.

We received a total of 143 technical paper submissions. However, after a thorough and rigorous review process, only 77 high-quality papers are accepted for presentation; a number that corresponds to an acceptance rate of 53.84%. We are pleased to share that scholars from 9 countries have opted this platform for presenting their research and development work. Out of the total accepted papers, authors/co-authors of 46 papers are from other countries making the international contribution of about 59.7%.

The success of the 1st IGCETMA-2018 conference relies entirely on the dedication, passion, efforts and the teamwork of the organizing committee, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering FKM UTM and members of the Computational Solid Mechanics Laboratory (CSMLab), UTM, who have put much effort into the planning and running of this event. We acknowledge the external reviewers who have invested significant time in assessing and analyzing multiple papers to ensure the high standard of quality of this conference. We hope that the proceedings could serve as a compilation of current state of research, development, and innovation in different disciplines. In fact, it could spur various interests in the related areas of emerging technologies.

Finally, after having a fruitful 1st IGCETMA-2018 conference, let us also not forget to have some fun – sightseeing, entertainment, great food, and shopping. We have arranged a short tour to the City of Johor Bahru.
