Doing and Teaching Design: Incorporating Research Results in Design Activities by Prof. Cindy Atman
Centre for Engineering Education (CEE) UTM in collaboration with Faculty of Mechanical Engineering (FKM), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia is organizing a half day workshop on Doing and Teaching Design: Incorporating Research Results in Design Activities which will be held as follows:
Date :29 November 2017 (Wednesday)
Time :9.00am – 1.00 pm
Venue : Dewan Seminar FKM, C23 Ground Floor, UTM Skudai.
The workshop will be conduct by Prof. Cindy Atman, who is the Director of Center for Engineering Learning & Teaching and also a Professor for Human Centered Design & Engineering from University of Washington US.
Synopsis of Workshop
In this workshop, participants will examine multiple models of design processes and develop ways to use research-based findings in future design activities. Specifically, participants will:
1. Examine research-based descriptive models of design processes drawn from two decades of research on design processes (both in the lab and in the classroom),
2. Compare these models with more typical abstract design process models, and
3. Develop ways to use this information in teaching and doing design in the future
