Energy Technology-where technology, resource, and development meet together

Energy technology is a multidisciplinaryand mechanical engineering field which deals with efficient and safe extraction, conversion and consumption of energy whilst compliance with society, economics and environment.Research showsthat energy technologyhas been one of the main pillars of development, growth, and human well-being and comfort. Energy technology, however, faces three main challenges namely increasing demand, depleting of fossil fuel reserves, and negative environmental impacts.According to IEA (International Energy Agency),the major domains to deal with these challenges areenergy efficiency (technical as well as non-technical),and renewable and alternative energy technologies.Energy efficiency domain requires improvement oftechnical and managementefficiencyin energy conversion, powergeneration andutilization. My research interests include combine heat and power (CHP), poly-generation, waste heat recovery and reuse, demand side management, energy economics, energy management and policies etc.

Renewable and alternative energy domain requires effective prioritization, planning and policy making to enable appropriate choice of technologies and resources. Myresearch interests includesrenewable energy production process,evaluation of renewable energy technology based on sustainability criteria, future energy technology and system, energy system modeling and optimization,renewable energy economics, distributed generation and rural electrification etc.In my research, I utilize different analyticalapproachesand modeling tools such as HOMER (Hybrid Optimization Model for Multiple Energy Resources), RETScreen (Clean energy analysis tool), SMAA (Stochastic Multicriteria Acceptability Analysis), LEAP (Long-range Energy Alternatives Planning) etc. This research provides effective energy solutions by taking into account all the major sustainability criteria under society, economics and environment.



Heavy Pulse And High Frequency Drive System

Nowadays electronics have become more and more dominant in drive control system. Pulse electronic systems have developed so rapid in this millennium. The development of superconductor and advancement in transistor material has lead to spontaneous response up to Giga-hertz level even though mechanical system is still working under kilohertz. Understanding electronic system behaviour for mechanical engineer is essential matter in order to be more versatile in design and control field. Thus the system or product that will be designed with electrical machine interfaced can be more efficient and sometimes even more cost effective. In fact with a few manipulations can contribute to extended life expectancy or less. Therefore it is a major concern that heavy over pulse and high frequency might not be favourable to mechanical component.
