The materials lecture competition started as an idea by IMM to organize a competition that gives the opportunity to our young students and researchers, particularly in the area of materials science and engineering, to showcase their presentation skills and share their knowledge on issues pertaining to materials and their roles in society whilst addressing audience from diversified background. The competition has now become nationwide whereby more than ten IPTA/IPTS participated in the competition at the national level since the year 2013. The first winners at the national-level competition represented Malaysia in the Young Persons’ World Lecture Competition (YPWLC) which was held in Hong Kong (2013), USA (2014), Ireland (2015) and Brazil (2016). The Malaysia Representative/Finalist from Multimedia University (MMU) won the third prize in the YPWLC 2014 which was held in California, USA in 2014.
This is the 6th time Materials Lecture Competition organized by Faculty of Mechanical Engineering (FKM), UTM in collaboration with the Institute of Materials Malaysia (IMM) after the successful first to fifth editions, which were held in the year 2012 to 2016.
